Inter Milan preview: Focus on the UCL

Internazionale have opened up a ten-point lead at the top-of-the-table in Italy with a 21st Scudetto now seemingly inevitable for Cristian Chivu’s side, having comfortably beaten Lecce by two goals to nil down in Apulia at the weekend.

However, that came a few days after Inter had succumbed to a 3-1 loss in freezing conditions up in the Arctic Circle at the Aspmyra Stadion in northern Norway in the first-leg of this UEFA Champions League knockout playoff round tie.

Bodo/Glimt preview: Brilliant Bodo

Sondre Brunstad Fet, Jens Petter Hauge and Kasper Hogh scored in that game and are the stars on the pitch for Bodo but it is manager, Kjetil Knutsen, who is the real gem in this Bodo setup.

The Norwegians, who reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa League last season, are now in unchartered territory and, what has been a famous and remarkable half a decade or so, could well have another magical chapter written in Milan.

Inter Milan team news: No Lautaro Martinez

Lautaro Martinez missed a couple of key opportunities last week but the Argentina international striker is now sidelined, alongside Hakan Calhanoglu, for the hosts due to a calf issue.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Sommer; Akanji; Acerbi, Bastoni; Darmian, Sucic, Barella, Zielinski, Dimarco; Esposito, Thuram

Unavailable: Calhanoglu (Injured), Martinez (Injured)

Questionable: Dumfries (Injured)

Bodo/Glimt team news: Fully fit

As they make the trip to San Siro this week, Bodo/Glimt have a fully fit and available squad and so they will be able to name an unchanged eleven in Milan.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Khaikin; Sjovold, Bjortuft, Gundersen, Bjorkan; Evjen, Berg, Fet; Blomberg, Hogh, Hauge

Unavailable:

Questionable:

Inter Milan vs Bodo/Glimt prediction

Last season, as Inter tried to win everything, the Nerazzurri ended up winning nothing and Simone Inzaghi departed for Al Hilal as a result. This time around, the league is wrapped up and the ability to prioritise should be easier. However, they are up against a Bodo side that have beaten Manchester City and Atletico Madrid, as well as Inter, in the last month and will head to San Siro with confidence. Inter should score but, frankly, based on what has gone before, Bodo should, too, and a massive shock could be on the cards.

Inter Milan vs Bodo/Glimt Tip: Both teams to score
