Inter Milan preview: Struggling in big games

Under the management of former Parma manager Cristian Chivu, Internazionale sit at the top-of-the-table in Serie A, which has been a very impressive half a season or so after a woeful end to the 2024/25 campaign.

However, the Nerazzurri have been reliant on sweeping past the lesser sides in Italy and they have actually struggled in the so-called ‘bigger games’ this season, as was the case at the back end of last season, too.

Arsenal preview: Impressive but dull

Arsenal extended their lead at the top of the Premier League table to seven points at the weekend but the Gunners were held to a frustrating goalless draw at the City Ground against Nottingham Forest on Saturday evening.

The north Londoners are sitting at the top-of-the-table in both the Premier League as well as the UEFA Champions League, on the verge of moving into the EFL Cup final and also into the fourth round of the FA Cup.

Inter Milan team news: Still no Calhanoglu

Key midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu sustained a calf injury against Napoli a couple of weeks ago and now the Turkey international is a confirmed absentee for the hosts.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Sommer; Bisseck, Akanji, Bastoni; Henrique, Zielinski, Sucic, Barella, Dimarco; Martinez, Thuram

Unavailable: Di Gennaro (Injrued), Martinez (Injured), Dumfries (Injured), Palacios (Injured), Calhanoglu (Injured)

Questionable:

Arsenal team news: Unlikely return for Hincapie

Piero Hincapie is expected to remain unavailable for this one due to a thigh injury, while his fellow defender Riccardo Calafiori is a confirmed injury absentee for the Gunners.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Raya; Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Lewis-Skelly; Odegaard, Zubimendi, Rice; Saka, Gyokeres, Martinelli

Unavailable: Calafiori (Injured), Dowman (Injured)

Questionable: Hincapie (Injured)

Inter Milan vs Arsenal prediction

Inter have struggled to beat any of the better sides in either Serie A or the UEFA Champions League. They will try and contain an Arsenal side that, despite their depth and general quality, have a limited style of football with quite low-scoring tendencies. Arsenal will be expected to avoid defeat in Lombardy but it is unlikely to be a thriller for the neutral in Italy.

Inter Milan vs Arsenal Tip: Double chance – Arsenal to win or draw & under 3.5 goals
