Iceland vs Ukraine prediction

Iceland started UEFA qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup with an impressive 5-0 hammering of Azerbaijan last month, with key man Albert Gudmundsson at the centre of their quality. That was then followed up by a 2-1 loss to France at the Parc des Princes in a game in which they were 1-0 up just before half-time.

They now face a Ukraine side that have underperformed for the last few years as they come into this one on the back of further underperformance in this campaign. After a 2-0 loss to France in Poland last month, Ukraine were then held to a surprising and frustrating 1-1 draw against Azerbaijan a few days’ later.

Ukraine have some real talent but they have underwhelmed and, with their home advantage, Iceland will be expected to get a second win of their qualifying campaign.
