Key stats

  • France are unbeaten in the previous 16 international matches between these teams (W12 D4).
  • France are unbeaten in their last 15 World Cup qualifying matches (W11 D4). They have won six in a row.
  • France have kept five clean sheets in their last six World Cup qualifying matches.
  • Kylian Mbappé has scored in France’s last five international matches.

Iceland vs France prediction

Iceland have some exciting players coming through the ranks and they put in some good performances last month, including taking the lead in a 2-1 loss to France at the Parc des Princes in Paris. Their excitement was on show the other day, too, but they ended up on the wrong side of it in a 5-3 loss to Ukraine in Reykjavik.

France have continued to ease through the group with three wins from three but none of their performances have been overly convincing and Les Bleus put in another shoddy display in Paris the other night to beat Azerbaijan by three goals to nil courtesy of strikes from Kylian Mbappe, Adrien Rabiot and Florian Thauvin.

France head to Reykjavik as the firm favourites but their own fallibility and the increased attacking prowess and potential of the hosts should add some intrigue for the neutral.

Iceland vs France tip: France to win & both teams to score
