Since that result, Hoffenheim have lost twice and drawn once in all competitions, firmly ending the honeymoon period under Christian Ilzer that lasted just one match.

FCSB have enjoyed a fantastic league phase campaign so far and to be sitting in tenth-place, five points clear of Hoffenheim with just goal difference separating them from the automatic knockout qualification spots is testament to that.

Defensive resilience is a key part of FCSB’s success and they have kept three clean sheets in their last four European games.
