Hellas Verona preview: Struggling Verona

Perhaps at long last, according to many Hellas Verona supporters, the home team have finally taken the decision to part company with former Empoli manager Paolo Zanetti and he has been replaced by Paolo Sammarco on an interim basis.

The home team begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting rock-bottom in Serie A. Their most recent outing saw them succumb to a 4-0 humiliation at the hands of a mid-table Cagliari side at the Unipol Demus in Sardinia last weekend.

Pisa preview: Struggling Pisa

Having gained promotion to the top-flight last season, Pisa have often been competitive throughout this campaign under the management of 2006 FIFA World Cup winner Alberto Gilardino but the Tuscans have remained underwhelming in terms of their results.

They have managed just one win all season with 11 draws, too. However, they have conceded nine goals in their last two games after a 6-2 defeat to Internazionale at San Siro before a 3-1 loss at home to Sassuolo, who were out of form, last weekend.

Hellas Verona team news: Sarr suspended

Having been sent off last week, Amin Sarr is now missing through suspension for this one, while the likes of Armel Bella-Kotchap and Sandi Lovric are key doubts, too.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Perilli; Slotsager, Nelsson, Valentini; Lirola, Harroui, Gagliardini, Bernede, Frese; Daniel Mosquera, Orban

Unavailable: Belgahli (Injured), Gagliardini (Injured), Suslov (Injured), Akpa Akpro (Injured), Sarr (Suspended)

Questionable: Bella-Kotchap (Injured), Lovric (Injured)

Pisa team news: A few doubts

Pisa are dealing with a few doubts for this one as Juan Cuadrado tries to work his way back to full fitness alongside fellow veteran defender Raul Albiol.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Scuffet; Caracciolo, Canestrelli, Bozhinov; Toure, Marin, Aebischer, Angori; Moreo, Tramoni; Meister

Unavailable: Vural (Injured)

Questionable: Semper (Injured), Denoon (Injured), Raul Albiol (Injured), Juan Cuadrado (Injured)

Hellas Verona vs Pisa prediction

The pressure is growing on Gilardino and it perhaps wouldn’t be a shock now if he followed Zanetti last weekend. These are two of the poorest teams in Europe’s so-called ‘big five’ leagues and a low-scoring encounter is to be expected for this one between two teams that lack much quality at either end of the pitch, but especially in the final third.

Hellas Verona vs Pisa tip: Under 2.5 goals
