Hovering just below the foot of the Bundesliga table, Heidenheim will hope a home fixture against Eintracht Frankfurt provides a change of fortunes.

Heidenheim preview: One point nine available

Heidenheim’s last three Bundesliga fixtures have not gone the way they would’ve hoped for results wise. A 2-2 draw at home to Werder Bremen was sandwiched between defeats to both Stuttgart and Hoffenheim on the road. At least they now return home, where they’ll be hoping for better luck and a second league win of the season.

As it stands, Heidenheim have scored just seven league goals so far this season across eight games, an average of less than a goal per match with only bottom-placed Borussia Monchengladbach scoring less goals.

Eintracht Frankfurt preview: Back to winning ways

After losing to Bayern Munich and drawing against Freiburg, Eintracht Frankfurt picked up a much-needed victory last weekend, beating St. Pauli by two goals to nil in what was a rare performance of competence from their backline, which has shipped 18 league goals already this season.

Since then, Frankfurt were beaten in a hard-fought DFB-Pokal tie with Borussia Dortmund that went all the way to penalties. Frankfurt were poor in the shootout, converting just two penalties as goalkeeper Gregor Kobel showed his class for Dortmund.

Heidenheim team news: Knee-capped

Knee problems have left Heidenheim without three of their players for this match. Sirlord Conteh, Frank Feller and Leart Paqarada are all set to miss out and they could be joined by forward Mikkel Kaufmann.

Predicted XI: (4-3-3): Ramaj; Traore, Mainka, Siersleben, Fohrenbach; Schoppner, Niehues, Dorsch; Ibrahimovic, Zivzivadze, Honsak

Unavailable: Conteh (Injured), Feller (Injured), Paqarada (Injured)

Questionable: Kaufmann (Injured)

Eintracht Frankfurt team news: Santos hopes for recall

Brazilian goalkeeper Kaua Santos will hope to reclaim his place after being dropped in favour of Michael Zetterer for Eintracht Frankfurt’s last few games following a terrible run of form.

Predicted XI: (3-4-3)Santos; Collins, Koch, Theate; Doan, Uzun, Chaibi, Brown; Bahoya, Burkardt, Knauff

Unavailable: Hojlund (Injured)

Questionable:

Heidenheim vs Eintracht Frankfurt prediction

Whilst Eintracht Frankfurt boasts a stronger side than that of Heidenheim, it’s hard to ignore their struggles from a defensive perspective and keeping out the opposition over the course of 90 minutes. Against the weaker teams however, such fragilities within the backline can be shielded by the attack, who are capable of outscoring their opponents.

It would be no surprise if this is what we see here, Heidenheim finding the net at some point, but Eintracht Frankfurt still doing enough to claim three points against the struggling hosts. This specific outcome is well worth backing.
