RB Leipzig round off the weekend’s Bundesliga action as they face a tough trip to Hamburg.

Kick-off date/time:

How to watch on TV: UK – Amazon Prime Video / US – ESPN

How to watch online: UK – Amazon Prime Video / US – ESPN+

Hamburg preview: Six unbeaten

Hamburg extended their recent unbeaten run in the Bundesliga to six matches following their 1-1 draw away at Mainz, their fourth draw of this undefeated streak. After going behind just before half-time, Hamburg came back strongly in the second half and levelled through midfielder Fabio Vieira to secure a point.

Prior to that game, Hamburg had reeled off back-to-back wins, following up a 0-2 victory away to rock bottom Heidenheim, with a thrilling 3-2 triumph over Union Berlin at the Volksparkstadion, Ransford Konigsdorffer scoring twice.

RB Leipzig preview: Another 2-2 draw

For the second time in as many weeks, RB Leipzig were forced to settle for a 2-2 draw, in what was very much an opportunity missed for them. Borussia Dortmund travelled to the Red Bull Arena and found themselves 2-0 down to Leipzig inside of 40 minutes thanks to a Christoph Baumgartner brace.

However, Dortmund would fight back in the second half but it still looked like Leipzig would do enough to hold on. Until the 95th minute when Fabio Silva made it 2-2, much to the frustration of Ole Werner and the Leipzig supporters.

Hamburg team news: Lokonga late fitness test

Hamburg are likely to give Albert Sambi Lokonga every chance to prove his fitness with the Belgian midfielder fighting an ankle problem. However, both Gronbaek and Rossing-Lelesiit are definitely out.

Predicted XI: (3-4-3): Heuer Fernandes; Capaldo, Vuskovic, Torunarigha; Jatta, Vieira, Remberg, Muheim; Konigsdorffer, Glatzel, Dompe

Unavailable: Gronbaek (Injured), Rossing-Lelesiit (Injured)

Questionable: Lokonga (Injured)

RB Leipzig team news: Schlager joins injured list

A groin injury rules out Xavi Schlager for the foreseeable future and he joins Ouedraogo and first-choice goalkeeper Gulacsi on the treatment table for RB Leipzig.

Predicted XI: (4-3-3): Vandevoordt; Baku, Orban, Lukeba, Raum; Gruda, Seiwald, Baumgartner; Diomande, Romulo, Nusa

Unavailable: Gulacsi (Injured), Ouedraogo (Injured), Schlager (Injured)

Questionable: Nedeljkovic (Injured), Sani (Injured)

Hamburg vs RB Leipzig prediction

This is a game very difficult to predict when you consider Hamburg’s recent unbeaten record and RB Leipzig’s recent tendency to drop points in matches that they shouldn’t (Wolfsburg, Mainz etc). When you compare the two squads, Leipzig boast the stronger one, but home advantage is in Hamburg’s favour, which they have certainly made the most of across the season.

Expect each of these two teams to deploy attacking playstyles, with RB Leipzig hoping their superior ability shines through and Hamburg banking on their never-say-die mentality and impressive attacking play will lead to them breaking through more than once here. Both teams have scored in three of Hamburg’s last four league games and each of Leipzig’s last five. Expect the same outcome this time around.
