Girona preview: Struggling Girona

Girona come into this one on the back of a 2-1 defeat to Getafe at the Coliseum in Madrid last weekend. Mario Martin and Borja Mayoral scored late goals before a consolation penalty notched by Cristhian Stuani in second-half stoppage-time.

The Catalans begin the 12th match day of the 2025/26 La Liga campaign sitting rock-bottom with just one victory in their 11 games. They had begun to improve but now the pressure is very much on Michel once again.

Alaves preview: Steady Alaves

Having narrowly avoided the drop on the final day of last season, Deportivo Alaves have been much-improved this time around as they sit just outside of the top seven and the European spots ahead of this weekend.

The Basque outfit come into this one on the back of a 2-1 victory against fellow high-flyers Espanyol, courtesy of goals from Denis Suarez and Lucas Boye, with the hot-headed latter later being sent off in that one.

Girona team news: A few issues

Girona have no new absentees but they are dealing with a few injury concerns as the likes of David Lopez and Alejandro Frances are sidelined alongside Donny van de Beek.

Predicted XI (4-5-1): Paulo Gazzaniga; Arnau Martinez, Reis, Blind, Alex Moreno; Tsygankov, Witsel, Ivan Martin, Ounahi, Joel Roca; Vanat

Alaves team news: Lucas Boye suspended

The aforementioned Lucas Boye is now missing through suspension for the visitors after that red card, whilst defender Jon Pacheco is sidelined for Alaves due to a shoulder injury.

Predicted XI (4-4-2): Antonio Sivera; Jonny, Tenaglia, Diarra, Youssef Enriquez; Calebe, Antonio Blanco, Denis Suarez, Carles Alena; Toni Martinez, Mariano

Unavailable: Garces (Disciplinary), Jon Pacheco (Injured), Lucas Boye (Suspended)

Girona vs Alaves prediction

Michel has been a brilliant coach for Girona but his outspoken stance against the way in which the hosts have conducted recent transfer business, as well as their continued struggled on the pitch, perhaps marks this out as a must win clash. They will, with home advantage, try and get on the front foot against an Alaves side that have themselves shown renewed attacking endeavour with Eduardo Coudet at the helm.

Girona vs Alaves tip: Both teams to score
