Gillingham vs Walsall prediction

Former Queens Park Rangers and Wycombe Wanderers boss Gareth Ainsworth is now in charge of Gillingham, with the expectation being that they challenge for promotion once again. Gills started their 2025/26 League Two season with a 1-1 draw against Accrington Stanley at the Wham Stadium in Lancashire last weekend.

They now face a Walsall side that had seemingly built up an almost unassailable lead at the top of the fourth-tier, but the Saddlers collapsed in the second-half of last season. Mat Sadler’s midlanders did manage to get themselves a victory over Swindon Town at the Bescot Stadium on the opening day of the campaign.

Gillingham will likely be quite defensive and dull throughout the campaign, and Walsall will believe they have enough talent to pinch all three points at the Priestfield Stadium.

Gillingham vs Walsall tip: Walsall to win & under 3.5 goals
