We have a Madrid derby taking place at the Coliseum this weekend as an always stubborn and hostile Getafe side take on league leaders Real Madrid.

Kick-off date/time:

How to watch on TV: UK – Premier Sports / US – ESPN have the exclusive rights to La Liga games in the USA, so Sevilla vs Barcelona may be televised on one of their affiliated channels

How to watch online: UK – Premier Player / Disney+ / US – ESPN+

Getafe preview: Stubborn Getafe

Under the management of Jose Bordalas, Getafe play a very defensive style of football and the home team have shown that effectiveness with a low-scoring mentality to aplomb this season, even though it isn’t to everyone’s taste.

With a limited squad and a small budget, Jose Bordalas has Getafe sitting firmly in the middle-of-the-table with three victories, two draws and three defeats, despite a reluctance to try and play with any sort of attacking patterns of play.

Real Madrid preview: Brilliant Los Blancos

Real Madrid begin the ninth match day of the 2025/26 La Liga season sitting at the top-of-the-table with Los Blancos having won seven out of eight games, with their only loss coming against Atletico Madrid last month.

Madrid come into this one on the back of another unconvincing performance as they defeated Villarreal by three goals to one at the Bernabeu, courtesy of a Vinicius Junior brace and another Kylian Mbappe strike.

Getafe team news: Djene a doubt

Getafe defender Djene is a doubt for this weekend after picking up an injury over the last couple of weeks. Experienced striker Juanmi is also a doubt for the hosts, once again.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): David Soria; Jorge Iglesias, Domingos Duarte, Abqar; Kiko Femenia, Mauro Arambarri, Luis Milla, Mario Martin, Diego Rico; Borja Mayoral, Adrian Liso

Unavailable: Juanmi (Injured)

Questionable: Djene (Injured)

Real Madrid team news: Defensive injuries

Real Madrid have a few key defensive injuries for this one with centre-backs Dean Huijsen and Antonio Rudiger sidelined alongside right-backs Dani Carvajal and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Courtois; Raul Asencio, Eder Militao, Carreras, Fran Garcia; Fede Valverde, Tchouameni, Bellingham; Guler, Mbappe, Vinicius Junior

Unavailable: Dean Huijsen (Injured), Dani Carvajal (Injured), Alexander-Arnold (Injured), Rudiger (Injured)

Questionable: Mendy (Injured), Mastantuono (Injured), Mbappe (Injured)

Getafe vs Real Madrid prediction

With a small pitch and an aggressive style of football, Getafe can make things difficult for any opposition in the world and Real Madrid would certainly have to be a little concerned. That is because Xabi Alonso, trying to overhaul whatever style Carlo Ancelotti had implemented, hasn’t quite got Los Blancos to click and gel just yet. Madrid would remain favourites but it is expected to be a low-scoring affair.

Getafe vs Real Madrid tip: Real Madrid to win & under 3.5 goals
