Getafe preview: Stubborn Getafe

Under the management of Jose Bordalas, Getafe begin the 11th match day of the 2025/26 La Liga campaign sitting tucked inside the top-half of the table, edging past Athletic Club by a goal to nil at San Mames in the Basque Country last weekend.

In midweek, the usually low-scoring Getafe dispatched of sixth-tier Inter de Valdemoro by 11 goals to nil away from home in the first round of the Copa del Rey, with Juanmi, who has been injured, notching four goals in that game.

Girona preview: Improving Girona

Girona have been circling the drain for the last couple of seasons in La Liga as a result of poor running of the club, as explained by manager Michel, and they have started this season poorly, albeit performances are now improving.

Prior to a 3-2 victory after extra-time against Constancia in the cup the other day, the Catalans shared a thrilling 3-3 draw with fellow strugglers Real Oviedo last weekend to mean they have now lost one of their last six matches across all competitions.

Getafe team news: Nyom still suspended

Former Watford defender Allan Nyom remains missing through suspension for the home team this weekend after a red card received against Real Madrid a fortnight ago.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): David Soria; Juan Iglesias, Domingos Duarte, Djene; Kiko Femenia, Luis Milla, Mauro Arambarri, Diego Rico; Adrian Liso, Borja Mayoral, Coba

Unavailable: Davinchi (Injured), Nyom (Suspended)

Questionable: Abqar (Injured)

Girona team news: David Lopez a doubt

Key centre-back David Lopez remains a doubt for Girona as he works his way back from a hamstring injury. They don’t have any confirmed fresh absentees for this one, though.

Predicted XI (4-5-1): Paulo Gazzaniga; Arnau Martinez, Reis, Blind, Alex Moreno; Bryan Gil, Tsygankov, Witsel, Ivan Martin, Joel Roca; Vanat

Unavailable: Juan Carlos (Injured), Alejandro Frances (Injured), Ricard Artero (Injured), Van de Beek (Injured)

Questionable: David Lopez (Injured)

Getafe vs Girona prediction

Getafe have shown more capability and efficiency in the final third with their demolition of lowly minnows in the cup in midweek. They have also been slightly more front foot this season with quite a few young options in attack. They face a Girona side that appeared to have slid into their more entertaining ways to try and fight their way out of trouble and, as a result, both teams scoring may well again be a good bet for this one at the Coliseum.

Getafe vs Girona tip: Both teams to score
