Getafe preview: Obdurate Getafe

Getafe begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting just a point and a place outside of the bottom three and the relegation places with the Madrid-based outfit now in woeful form of late.

The home team come into this one on the back of a 1-1 draw with Girona in Catalonia last weekend. That means that Jose Bordalas’ hosts are now winless in their last eight matches across all competitions.

Celta Vigo preview: Entertaining Celta

Coached by Claudio Giraldez, Celta Vigo have been one of the most energetic and entertaining teams to watch in La Liga but, surprisingly, the Galicians have the fourth best defensive record in the division.

They have endured a bit of a tricky week, though, as they succumbed to a 2-1 loss to Real Sociedad in the Basque Country last weekend before sharing a 1-1 draw with Red Star Belgrade in the UEFA Europa League the other day.

Getafe team news: A few injuries

Getafe have a couple of confirmed injury absentees for this one, such as Davinchi and Borja Mayoral, while centre-back Abdel Abqar is a doubt for the home team.

Predicted XI (4-4-2): David Soria; Juan Iglesias, Domingos Duarte, Djene, Nyom; Kiko Femenia, Mauro Arambarri, Luis Milla, Mario Martin; Luis Vazquez, Martin Satriano

Unavailable: Davinchi (Injured), Borja Mayoral (Injured)

Questionable: Abqar (Injured), Kamara (Ineligible)

Celta Vigo team news: Couple of doubts

Celta are heading to Madrid with a couple of injury doubts as former Celtic centre-back Carl Starfelt is potentially sidelined alongside the versatile Manu Fernandez.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Radu; Javi Rodriguez, Carlos Dominguez, Marcos Alonso; Oscar Mingueza, Fer Lopez, Ilaix Moriba, Sergio Carreira; Iago Aspas, Borja Iglesias, Swedberg

Unavailable:

Questionable: Starfelt (Injured), Manu Fernandez (Injured)

Getafe vs Celta Vigo prediction

Getafe have scored just 16 goals in their 21 matches with a very defensive and reactive style of football under the management of Jose Bordalas. Only rock-bottom Real Oviedo have scored fewer than Getafe thus far. Celta, given the fact that they have the fourth best defensive record in La Liga, will therefore be confident of being able to restrict the hosts and so a Celta win, in which they control the opposition, is a good bet for this one.
