Genoa preview: De Rossi’s Genoa

Genoa began the season extremely slowly with Patrick Vieira at the helm, but they have steadily improved now with Daniele De Rossi in the hot seat. They remain in the battle against the drop but only really on paper with many believing them too good to be dragged into it seriously.

Their most recent outing saw the Genovese succumb to defeat, though, losing by three goals to two away to Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico with midfielder Daniel Cataldi scoring a winner from the spot in the tenth minute of added time for the Laziale.

Napoli preview: Conte’s Napoli

Napoli come into this one on the back of a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Fiorentina at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona in Naples last weekend, courtesy of shrikes scored by Antonio Vergara and Miguel Gutierrez.

That was very much a much-needed victory for the Partenopei as they sit tucked inside the top three ahead of this weekend's round of fixtures. They have underwhelmed thus far as they sit nine points adrift of league leaders Internazionale at the top-of-the-table.

Genoa team news: Couple of doubts

Tommaso Baldanzi, who joined from Roma on loan in the January transfer window, is a doubt for this one alongside back-up goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Biljow; Marcandalli, Ostigard, Johan Vasquez; Norton-Cuffy, Malinovskiy, Frendrup, Ellertsson, Caricol; Colombo, Vitinha

Unavailable:

Questionable: Siegrist (Injured), Baldanzi (Injured)

Napoli team news: Di Lorenzo out

Napoli have been dealing with plenty of injury issues throughout this campaign but they are now without captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo, who has a knee issue.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Meret; Beukema, Juan, Buongiorno; Spinazzola, McTominay, Lobotka, Miguel Gutierrez; Vergara, Hojlund, Elmas

Unavailable: Di Lorenzo (Injured), Gilmour (Injured), De Bruyne (Injured), David Neres (Injured)

Questionable: Milinkovic-Savic (Injured), Rrahmani (Injured), Mazzocchi (Injured), Anguissa (Injured), Politano (Injured)

Genoa vs Napoli prediction

Napoli have played a similarly reactive and underwhelming style of football under the management of Antonio Conte. Genoa have a low-scoring style themselves with limited quality in the final third, despite their improvement under De Rossi. Napoli are the favourites for this one but it is expected to be a low-scoring encounter in Liguria.
