Genoa preview: Change in Genoa
In their opening nine games of the campaign, Genoa failed to win. That led them to a change in management and a minor improvement with Daniele De Rossi replacing Patrick Vieira in the dugout. Their improved run has given way to a bit of a decline, though, of late and a performance is needed this week.
The home team come into this one on the back of a steady recent run. Three draws and a victory in their last four matches has stopped the ship from rocking. They most recently shared a goalless draw with a very awkward Parma side that are always difficult to play against at the Ennio Tardini last weekend.
Bologna preview: Out of form Bologna
Bologna, on the other hand, are sitting just outside of the top seven and the European spots in Serie A under the management of Vincenzo Italiano. They are in poor form, though, with the 2025 Coppa Italia winners having been in the hunt for a top four spot just a couple of months ago.
The hosts come into this having most recently shared a frustrating 2-2 draw with Celtic at the Renato Dall’Ara in the UEFA Europa League in midweek. That means the visitors are now on a run of just one victory inside 90 minutes in their last ten matches across all competitions.

Former Napoli centre-back Leo Ostigard is missing through suspension, while attacking duo Albert Gronbaek and Caleb Ekuban are confirmed absentees for the hosts.
Predicted XI (3-5-2): Leali; Marcandalli, Otoa, Johan Vasquez; Sabelli, Malinovskiy, Frendrup, Ellertsson, Caricol; Vitinha, Colombo

Bologna team news: Juan Miranda suspended
Key left-back Juan Miranda is missing through suspension for this one, while Colombia international centre-back Jhon Lucumi is unavailable due to injury this weekend.
Predicted XI (4-3-3): Skorupski; Zortea, Casale, Heggem, Lykogiannis; Ferguson, Moro, Pobega; Rowe, Dallinga, Dominguez
Unavailable: Jhon Lucumi (Injured), Juan Miranda (Suspended), Bernadeschi (Injured)
Questionable: Castro (Illness)
Genoa vs Bologna prediction
Bologna are one of the better team to watch for a neutral in Serie A. However, they are in a bit of a pickle at the moment and a bit of pressure is growing on Italiano in the dugout. Genoa will intend to make it extremely difficult for them to play and be fluent. Bologna have to be slight favourites for what is expected to be a low-scoring encounter at the Luigi Ferraris.
Genoa vs Bologna tip: Under 2.5 goals
