Fulham vs Southampton prediction

Fulham come into this one on the back of a frustrating 1-0 defeat at home to West Ham United, denting their hopes of squeezing into the top seven or eight and securing European qualification. The Cottagers are a good side and will be expected to name a strong eleven here with mid-table obscurity in the league once again.

Southampton have experienced a topsy turvy season with a poor start leading to the sacking of Will Still, a strong run of form leading to the appointment of interim boss Tonda Eckert on a permanent basis, a major dip leading to scrutiny of Eckert’s position and now a return to form leaving them on the cusp of the top six and the playoff places.

Southampton head to Craven Cottage in reasonably good form and may well pose problems for the hosts but Fulham have to be viewed as firm favourites to come out on top, albeit conceding to second-tier opposition, as they did against Middlesbrough in the third round and then Stoke City in the fourth round, wouldn’t be a surprise.

Fulham vs Southampton tip: Fulham to win & both teams to score
