Freiburg Preview: On a roll after going three straight

Freiburg are knocking on the door of the top four after winning their last three Bundesliga games, each of them by a goal to nil. The defensive resilience of Julian Schuster’s side has been most impressive and is a pillar of their recent success. The question is whether the Freiburg can sustain such stability with some big tests ahead.

Bochum, Heidenheim and St. Pauli, the three teams beaten by Freiburg most recently are all fighting at the wrong end of the table, so with that in mind the hosts need to prove themselves against stronger opposition before we learn more about their Champions League prospects.

Werder Bremen Preview: Dropping back to mid-table

Werder Bremen will no doubt be extremely frustrated to find themselves currently tenth-place in the table with consecutive defeats having stunted their progress in trying to break into those European spots. They are five points adrift of the top six as it stands, so gaining points here ahead of the weekend’s games would be huge for them.

After losing 3-0 away at Bayern Munich, the Werder backline struggled again against lowly Hoffenheim and paid a heavy price. The visitors came out on top by three goals to one in what was a surprise result.

Freiburg Team News: Hofler in line for recall

Patrick Osterhage could drop to the bench in central midfield with Nicolas Hofler taking his place. Lucas Holer should continue to be favoured over the likes of Junior Adamu and Michael Gregoritsch up top.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Atubolu; Sildillia, Ginter, Lienhart, Gunter; Hofler, Eggestein; Doan, Rohl, Grifo; Adamu

Unavailable: Kyereh (Injured), Ogbus (Injured)

Questionable: Muslija (Injured)

Werder Bremen Team News: Strike partnership on the cards

We could well end up seeing a front two from Werder Bremen in this game, with Andre Silva being paired up with either Marvin Ducksch or Marco Grull. Derrick Kohn, Issa Kabore and Felix Agu are all in contention to play at left-wing-back.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Zetterer; Veljkovic, Stark, Jung; Weiser, Lynen, Bittencourt, Schmid, Agu; Ducksch, Silva

Unavailable: Henrichs (Injured), Orban (Suspended), Ouedraogo (Injured), Poulsen (Injured), Schlager (Injured)

Questionable:

Freiburg Vs Werder Bremen Prediction

Two clubs at different ends of the form scale right now collide here and Freiburg will no doubt be confident of further success. It’s hard to see Werder being able to keep out the home side when considering their recent defensive frailties and if Freiburg score first, they should end up being successful as their backline will expect to shut out Werder. Therefore, back a home win and under 2.5 goals scored.

Freiburg Vs Werder Bremen Tip: Freiburg to win and under 2.5 goals
