Freiburg preview: Hunting for four
Freiburg are out to make it four straight wins in all competitions following consecutive victories in the Bundesliga, followed by a hard-fought 2-1 triumph at home to Basel in the Europa League. Patrick Osterhage and Max Eggestein scored the goals which brought Freiburg their first three points of the league phase.
Julian Schuster’s side come into this latest round of Bundesliga fixtures in seventh-place but will have their eyes on loftier heights come the end of this weekend. Key to their success is if they can continue their recent goalscoring prowess, having found the net eight times across those last three wins.
Hoffenheim preview: High risk high reward
Hoffenheim have a good opportunity here to move above Freiburg in the table with a win here over Schuster’s men. However, to push bodies forward in a bid to claim victory could see them caught out at the other end of the pitch, so they will need to be careful with how they play things when considering their shaky backline.
Still without a clean sheet this season, it’s been the offence of Hoffenheim which has proven productive and led to them winning two of four so far in the league. Most notably, both of those victories have been on the road, which bodes well for them here.
Freiburg team news: Hosts wait on Adamu
After suffering a knock, Schuster will be waiting anxiously on the injury status of forward Junior Adamu and hoping that he is passed fit to play. Kyereh remains out, whilst Johan Manzambi is suspended.
Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Atubolu; Kubler, Ginter, Lienhart, Makengo; Eggestein, Osterhage; Beste, Holer, Grifo; Adamu

Questionable: Adamu (Injured)
Hoffenheim team news: Behrens among four absentees
Hoffenheim won’t be able to call upon left-back Hennes Behrens due to a hamstring problem, whilst Adam Hlozek remains out for the visitors. Also missing among the Hoffenheim squad is Valentin Gendrey and Koki Machida
Predicted XI (4-3-3): Baumann; Coufal, Hranac, Hajdari, Prass; Burger, Avdullahu, Kramaric; Asllani, Lemperle, Toure
Unavailable: Behrens (Injured), Gendrey (Injured), Hlozek (Injured), Machida (Injured)

Freiburg vs Hoffenheim prediction
This is not a great match-up on paper for Hoffenheim when considering that Freiburg are in good form and a free-flowing attacking side, whilst Christian Ilzer’s men have struggled defensively and are without a Bundesliga clean sheet this season. Things are starting to come together nicely for the hosts and they’ll be expected to dominate much of this game.
Although Hoffenheim pose a significant goalscoring threat themselves and have proven themselves as a very dangerous unit on the road in particular, their backline should be overwhelmed by the Freiburg attack over the course of this game and it’s well worth backing a home win, alongside both teams scoring.
Freiburg vs Hoffenheim tip: Freiburg to win and both teams to score
