THE LOWDOWN

CADIZ

Cadiz have endured an absolutely miserable campaign thus far as they begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting 18th and in the bottom three and the relegation places. The Andalusians should arguably be flattered by the fact they are as high as 18th with their general performance level being even worse than that.

They appointed former Southampton boss Mauricio Pellegrino in January, replacing Sergio, but things have not improved. They won two of their opening four matches but are now, quite remarkably, winless in their last 21 matches. Their most recent outing saw them beaten 2-0 by Osasuna in Pamplona last Saturday.

CELTA VIGO

Despite spending the majority of the opening few months in the bottom three and the relegation places, performances were far better than results suggested so Celta Vigo decided to stick by former Real Madrid and Liverpool Rafa Benitez. Whilst they remain just outside of the bottom three, there is an expectation they will be able to pull away.

The Galicians come into this one on the back of suffering a gutting 2-1 defeat at home to Barcelona in their most recent outing at Balaidos, last weekend. Robert Lewandowski scored a 97th minute winning penalty for Barca in that game, meaning that Celta have now suffered five defeats in their last six matches across all competitions.

THE TEAM NEWS

CADIZ

Struggling Cadiz have several absentees for this weekend as the likes of Luis Hernandez and Javi Hernandez remain out injured, whilst Lucas Pires is also suspended.

PREDICTED XI (4-4-2): Ledesma; Carcelen, Jorge Mere, Chust, Zaldua; Alejo, Escalante, Alex, Navarro; Sobrino, Ramos

UNAVAILABLE: Pires (Suspended), J. Hernandez (Injured), L. Hernandez (Injured), Fede (Injured), Marti (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Fali (Injured)

CELTA VIGO

Celta Vigo have a couple of injury issues for this weekend as full-back duo Mihailo Ristic and Javi Manquillo remain unavailable, whilst Carlos Dotor and Carlos Dominguez are doubtful.

PREDICTED XI (4-4-2): Guaita; Mingueza, Starfelt, Dominguez, Aidoo; Allende, Beltran, Tapia, de la Torre; Aspas, Strand Larsen

UNAVAILABLE: Ristic (Injured), Manquillo (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Dominguez (Injured), Dotor (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

As we head into this weekend, these sides are only separated by one place and three points in the table but, as mentioned, that majorly flatters Cadiz as they have arguably been the weakest team in the league for the last few months, despite the fact the league consists of a team yet to win a single game this season. Celta Vigo have been improving and are expecting to eventually move away from the bottom three with this one an excellent opportunity to open up a gap.

TIP: CELTA TO WIN
