Travel Distances 2023/24 – English Championship

Here at TSZ we have put together a list of all the travel distances for the 2023/24 English Championship season.

The distances have been determined by using the shortest route by road on Google Maps at the time of writing. The mileage shown is for one-way journeys from a team's home stadium to the opponent's home stadium for all away games in the league campaign. The results DO NOT factor in the return journey, and as this is strictly a 'by road' analysis, other means of transport (e.g. train) are not considered.

TOTAL DISTANCES

  • Plymouth fans are faced with the longest total mileage for league games of any team in English football this season, with their away trips totalling over 6000 miles over the course of the campaign.
  • By comparison, Birmingham fans who travel to every away league match will clock up over 3400 miles fewer than those doing the same for Plymouth.

WHAT IS THE LONGEST AWAY TRIP IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP?

  • The only fixture that will require a road journey in excess of 400 miles in the Championship is when Plymouth meet Sunderland (406 miles).
  • Birmingham's longest trip (Plymouth), is exactly half that journey (203 miles).

WHAT IS THE SHORTEST AWAY TRIP IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP?

  • The fixtures between West Midlands rivals Birmingham and West Brom is the shortest in the Championship this season, with just seven miles separating the teams by road.
  • Plymouth fans' shortest away day in the league this season still comes in at 121 miles (Bristol City).
