Fiorentina preview: Improved but in danger

Fiorentina started the season terribly and they have managed to steadily improve as the campaign has gone on but I Viola still do begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting in the bottom three and the relegation places.

The hosts head into this one on the back of three successive defeats with losses in Serie A to both Napoli and Cagliari sandwiching a 3-1 defeat at home to Como in the round of 16 of the Coppa Italia.

Torino preview: Underwhelming Torino

Torino begin this weekend's round of fixtures sitting firmly in the middle-of-the-table. There is a bit of pressure on Marco Baroni, though, despite a much-needed 1-0 defeat of Lecce at the Stadio Grande Torino in Piedmont last weekend.

The home team come into this one on the back of a 2-1 loss to Internazionale at San Siro in the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia. Their win against Lecce ended what was a four-match losing streak in Serie A.

Fiorentina team news: Rugani a doubt

Daniele Rugani has completed a late window move to Fiorentina on loan but the former Juventus defender is now a major doubt for this one due to a thigh injury.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): David de Gea; Dodo, Comuzzo, Pongracic, Gosens; Fabbian, Fagioli, Brescianini; Solomon, Piccoli, Gudmundsson

Unavailable: Lamptey (Injured)

Questionable: Rugani (Injured)

Torino team news: Loads of issues

Torino are dealing with lots of issues for this one as both Nikola Vlasic and Matteo Prati are missing through suspension, while Cesare Casadei is a doubt due to illness, too.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Paleari; Marianucci, Guillermo Maripan, Saul Coco; Pedersen, Anjorin, Ilkhan, Tameze, Lazaro; Kulenovic, Duvan Zapata

Unavailable: Ismajli (Injured), Schuurs (Injured), Vlasic (Suspended), Prati (Suspended)

Questionable: Ilic (Injured), Gineitis (Injured), Casadei (Illness), Ilic (Injured), Aboukhlal (Injured), Adams (Injured), Giovanni Simeone (Injured)

Fiorentina vs Torino prediction

With home advantage, Fiorentina will be tasked with taking the initiative in this one. The issue would be that their lack of confidence may prevent them from being overly fluent. That said, they are up against a Torino side that lack quality and much direction really, despite sitting comfortably above Fiorentina in the table and a home win would appear the way to go for this one.
