Fiorentina vs Panathinaikos Prediction
In the first-leg of this intriguing clash in Athens last week, Panathinaikos raced into a 2-0 lead before Fiorentina managed to fight back to all-square within the opening 25 minutes but Panathinaikos pinched the advantage in the second-half thanks to a Tete strike.
The hosts, coached by Raffaele Palladino, were involved in Serie A’s title race at Christmas but I Viola have collapsed in the league, been knocked out of the cup and now found themselves behind in Europe. They have managed just four victories in 15 matches across all competitions since hammering LASK by seven goals to nil in mid-December.
Panathinaikos lost 2-1 to Vikingur Reykjavik in Iceland in the first-leg of their knockout playoff round tie before turning that around in the second-leg and there is an importance on home advantage. That will concern them as they head to the Artemio Franchi in Florence for this second-leg this week.
Fiorentina are out of form but will have to attack and that may well help Panathinaikos on the counter-attack so both teams scoring would appear a good bet for this second-leg.
