Fiorentina preview: I Viola starting steadily

Having replaced Raffaele Palladino with Stefano Pioli, the 2023 and 2024 UEFA Europa Conference League finalists, and 2025 semi-finalists, have already played four matches across all competitions at the start of the 2025/26 campaign.

I Viola managed to defeat Ukrainian Premier League side Polissya Zhytomyr by six goals to two on aggregate in the playoffs of the UEFA Europa Conference League, whilst beginning their Serie A season with back-to-back draws against Genoa and Torino.

Napoli preview: Defending the Scudetto

Antonio Conte and his Napoli side begin the weekend having started their season as one of four teams, alongside Juventus, Cremonese and Roma, to have begun with a 100% record from their opening couple of matches.

The Partenopei, with a deeper squad now as they seek to battle in the UEFA Champions League, too, began their campaign with a 2-0 victory against newly-promoted Sassuolo and they then edged past Cagliari with a last-gasp Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa winner.

Fiorentina team news: Couple of issues

Fiorentina have a couple of injury issues to deal with for this weekend as Iceland international attacker Albert Gudmundsson is a doubt, whilst Christian Kouame is a confirmed absentee.

Napoli team news: A few issues

Conte is dealing with a few issues for this one with new signing Miguel Gutierrez still an injury doubt. Their confirmed absentees consist of defender Amir Rrahmani and Romelu Lukaku.

Predicted XI (4-1-4-1): Meret; Di Lorenzo, Buongiorno, Juan, Spinazzola; Lobotka; Politano, Anguissa, De Bruyne, McTominay; Lucca

Unavailable: Rrahmani (Injured), Lukaku (Injured)

Questionable: Miguel Gutierrez (Injured), David Neres (Injured)

Fiorentina vs Napoli prediction

Fiorentina have a good squad, an impressive and experienced manager and they have a lot to look forward to with another UEFA Europa Conference League campaign. They now face a Napoli side that head to Florence with a fair bit about them in terms of becoming the dominant force in Italy and they should keep things tight and low-scoring, but they remain firm favourites.

Fiorentina vs Napoli tip: Double chance – Napoli to win or draw & under 3.5 goals
