Fiorentina preview: Fun Fiorentina

Stefano Pioli has been kept in charge of Fiorentina but I Viola have struggled throughout the campaign, still winless after eight matches of the 2025/26 Serie A season with no win thus far.

They do, though, come into this one on the back of a 3-0 hammering of Rapid Vienna in the Austrian capital city in the league phase of the UEFA Europa Conference League with goals from Cher Ndour, Edin Dzeko and Albert Gudmundsson.

Bologna preview: Brilliant Bologna

Bologna come into this one on the back of a continuation of their poor form as they defeated Romanian champions FCSB by two goals to one in Bucharest in midweek in the league phase of the UEFA Europa Conference League.

Bologna have been in excellent form after a slightly slow start to the season and they begin this match day sitting just outside of the top four and the UEFA Champions League spots in Serie A.

Fiorentina team news: Key doubts

Fiorentina are dealing with a few key doubts for this one as Robin Gosens is potentially sidelined alongside midfielder Amir Richardson and Italy international striker Moise Kean.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): David de Gea; Pongracic, Pablo Mari, Ranieri; Dodo, Mandragora, Caviglia, Fagioli, Ndour; Fazzini, Dzeko

Unavailable: Lamptey (Injured), Kouame (Injured)

Questionable: Gosens (Injured), Richardson (Injured), Kean (Injured)

Bologna team news: Immobile a doubt

As they head to Florence, Bologna striker Ciro Immobile is the only injury doubt as he deals with a thigh injury. There are no other fresh concerns for the visitors this week.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Ravaglia; Holm, Vitik, Heggem, Juan Miranda; Freuler, Ferguson; Bernadeschi, Odgaard, Cambiaghi; Castro

Unavailable:

Questionable: Immobile (Injured)

Fiorentina vs Bologna prediction

It has been a very tough start to the season for Fiorentina. The hosts will be expected to play on the front foot with some intent, given their much-needed victory in midweek and the pressure that is on Pioli. Bologna, though, are an excellent side with their own counter-attacking capabilities to punish a still vulnerable I Viola. As a result, this should end up being quite an entertaining watch for the neutral.

Fiorentina vs Bologna tip: Both teams to score
