Fiorentina preview: Slight improvement

Fiorentina started the season with the return of Stefano Pioli, who won the league with Milan in 2022,  but a miserable beginning saw him sacked and replaced by former Lazio boss Marco Baroni in November. It was hardly an immediate improving but I Viola do now finally beginning to find something of a spark.

The hosts have now suffered just one defeat in their last four matches in Serie A. That were left extremely frustrated to have been denied a third win in four in midweek, though, as veteran attacker Pedro scored a last gasp equaliser for Lazio in a 2-2 draw with the strugglers at the Stadio Olimpico the other day.

AC Milan preview: Surprise title challenge

AC Milan head into this one on the back of a 1-1 draw with Genoa at San Siro the other day, courtesy of a late equaliser scored by Portugal international attacker Rafael Leao. The Rossoneri have been pegged back at the top-of-the-table as they now sit three points behind city rivals Internazionale.

They have been much-improved and far more effective after they appointed Massimiliano Allegri. He has brought his typically defensive and cautious style of football back to Lombardy, but that has helped the club a fair bit who were in flux and verging into a crisis, yet again.

Fiorentina vs AC Milan prediction

These are two giants of Italian football and both have a bit of work to do to really get their supporters back on track. Fiorentina's improvement of late, and a slight shakiness from Milan, would make a rare entertaining game involving the visitors a reasonable possibility.
