Finland vs Switzerland prediction

On the back of knocking out host nation Italy 3-0 in the play-off round, Switzerland now takes on Finland for a place in the last four and they’ll have to be significantly better from an attacking perspective if they are to be successful. To score just three goals and one across two periods from 51 shots overall isn’t going to cut it against stronger opposition like Finland.

Despite the presence of both Canada and USA, you could argue that Finland are in the best frame of mind heading into the quarter-finals. Confidence is high after thrashing Italy 11-0 and what was following a 4-1 victory over Sweden, a result which laid down a marker to their competition when taking into account the Swedes’ quality. They’ve looked better, more clinical and ruthless going forward on the ice compared to Switzerland and that could be what makes the difference in this one. Therefore, backing Finland warrants serious consideration.
