Key stats

  • Faroe Islands have won only one of their last 14 World Cup qualifying matches (D2 L11). They have lost six in a row prior to this fixture.
  • Gibraltar have lost all their previous 23 World Cup qualifying matches. They have lost all 26 matches in UEFA European Championship qualifying also.

Faroe Islands vs Gibraltar prediction

Although the Faroe Islands' narrow 1-0 defeat to Georgia in Thursday's friendly was their fourth consecutive defeat in international football, they competed well throughout that contest and there were some positive signs that they are heading in the right direction.

Indeed, both their qualifying defeats so far - against Czechia and Montenegro - have come via late winners so it's fair to say they haven't had the best of luck so far in Group L.

That could be about to change here though, as they face a poor Gibraltar side who are coming into this off the back of a bruising 0-7 defeat at the hands of Croatia.

The hosts will sees this as a good opportunity to put some points on the board against a weak opponent, and they can be backed with confidence in this one.
