Two premium central defenders come under the spotlight here. Man City's Aymeric Laporte (£6.0m) made his first Premier League start of the season in Gameweek 4, as his side drew 1-1 with Leeds. For Virgil van Dijk (£6.5m), Gameweek 4 turned into a real life nightmare as his Liverpool side fell to a catastrophic 7-2 thrashing away at Aston Villa, with the Dutch star picking up an FPL score of minus two!
Both will be desperate for clean sheets in Gameweek 5, as Man City host Arsenal, whilst Liverpool travel across Merseyside to face bitter rivals Everton. However, neither look like securing that all important shutout and at expensive prices, they don't appeal from an FPL perspective. If we had to pick one, we would plump for the cheaper Laporte, mainly due to his home fixture against a Gunners side whom City have fared well against in previous league meetings at the Etihad Stadium under manager Pep Guardiola.
