Eswatini earned themselves a really surprising result the other day to restore some confidence as they now take on a Mauritius side that are, alongside Eswatini, one of the weaker sides.

Key Stats

  • The head-to-head record in the seven previous international matches between these teams is; Eswatini wins – 1, Mauritius wins – 2, draws – 4.
  • Eswatini are without a win in their last nine World Cup qualifying matches (D3 L6). Their last FWCQ victory was a 2-1 home win against Djibouti in October 2015.
  • Eswatini have failed to score in seven of their last nine World Cup qualifying matches.
  • Eswatini have lost only two of their last seven international matches (W3 D2).
  • Mauritius have won only two of their previous 25 World Cup qualifying matches (D4 L19). One of the successes was their 2-1 win against Eswatini in June 2024.
  • Mauritius are without a win in their previous 14 World Cup qualifying matches outside of Mauritius (D3 L11).

Eswatini vs Mauritius Prediction

Eswatini and Mauritius are among the weakest teams on the African continent and they both face up against each other in Group D, and they do line up as seemingly quite evenly matched sides this weekend.

Eswatini, though, off the back of four successive losses to begin CAF’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification campaign managed to earn themselves a shock goalless draw against a strong Cameroonian side at the Mbombela Stadium in South Africa the other day, closing the gap to three points behind fifth placed Mauritius.

The reason as to why Mauritius have collected four points from their five matches thus far is because in the ‘reverse fixture’ between these sides also played at the neutral venue of Mauritania, Mauritius defeated Eswatini by two goals to one but they remain a similarly ranked and generally viewed side.

These are two weak sides that lack an attacking thrust and quality but Eswatini proved their defensive capabilities the other day so a low-scoring encounter would appear a good bet for this one.

Eswatini vs Mauritius Tip: Under 2.5 goals
