Eswatini sit rock-bottom in Group D of African qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup with no points collected yet as they now take on a strong Cameroonian side in South Africa this week.

Key Stats

  • The only previous matches between these teams were in the qualifying tournament for USA 1994. A 5-0 home win for Cameroon in October 1992 was followed by a 0-0 draw in Eswatini in January 1993 *note Eswatini was known as Swaziland at the time.
  • Eswatini have drawn two and lost six of their eight World Cup qualifying matches since their last FWCQ victory, a 2-1 home win against Djibouti in October 2015.
  • Cameroon have lost only three of their last 26 World Cup qualifying matches (W14 D9).
  • Cameroon are unbeaten in their last five World Cup qualifying matches (W3 D2).
  • Cameroon have only failed to score in one of their last 15 World Cup qualifying matches.
  • Cameroon have scored the first goal in nine of their last ten World Cup qualifying matches.

Eswatini vs Cameroon Prediction

Eswatini are one of the weakest sides to have reached the group stages of CAF’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification as they now face a Cameroonian side that have been strong since the appointment of former Oud-Heverlee Leuven coach Marc Brys last summer.

Eswatini did manage a surprise 1-0 win away from Madagascar in the second-leg of their Africa Nations Championship qualifying campaign in December, albeit that did still result in a 2-1 aggregate loss. They have suffered four defeats from four in FIFA World Cup qualification, with just one goal scored and no points collected in Group D.

Cameroon began their qualification campaign with two victories and two draws in their opening four matches as they above the likes of Libya, Cabo Verde, Angola and Mauritius. The Cameroonians most recently suffered a defeat to the Central African Republic in that aforementioned African Nations Championship round, albeit with a very weak squad.

This game is in the neutral venue of South Africa so any home advantage Eswatini could have squeezed out is gone and a fairly comfortable Cameroon win is to be expected for this one.

Eswatini vs Cameroon Tip: Cameroon to win to nil
