No doubt one of the highlights of the first round was David Munyua's thrilling 3-2 victory over former World Grand Prix champion Mike De Decker.
Kenya's first ever representative in the PDC World Darts Championship looked to be heading out at two sets down, but found some magic to claw his way back into the game before pinning double top for a momentous victory.
After an excellent run to the fourth round on debut last year, Kevin Doets was at it again in the first round with a reasonably comfortable 3-1 triumph over Matthew Dennant.
The Dutchman averaged 12 points more than Munyua did in their respective victories, and is the clear favourite here. The crowd will be fully behind the Kenyan though, which could effect Doets' game to some extent. There is little value to be had in backing Doets, so over 3.5 sets looks more appealing.
