Not many players manage to win 3-0 on their World Championship debut, but that's exactly what Darren Beveridge did when he stepped onto the Alexandra Palace stage for the first time.
Although 'Ice Cold' benefitted from the fact that opponent Dimitri Van den Bergh, who has been largely inactive in 2025, missed 16 of his 17 attempts at a double, he was tidy on the outer ring himself and averaged 91.62 over the course of the contest.
Madars Razma can usually be relied upon to make it past the first round at Ally Pally and he delivered on that promise with a 3-1 triumph over Jamai van den Herik on the opening evening of the tournament.
The Latvian rarely posts eye-watering numbers but can be a stubborn opponent, with his consistency getting him over the line in a number of matches.
