Key stats

  • These teams are meeting for the fourth time in a U21 EURO final tournament, all their previous three matches were also in the group stage (D 1-1 in 2015, Germany W 2-0 in 2017 and Czechia W 2-1 in 2023).
  • Czechia have exited at the group stage in their last four U21 EURO participations. They last qualified for the knockout rounds in 2011.
  • Czechia have won only one of their last eight U21 EURO final tournament matches (D2 L5). That was a 2-1 victory against Germany on Matchday 2 at the 2023 finals.
  • Germany are aiming to win successive matches in the group stage for the first time since the 2019 finals when they opened with back-to-back successes against Denmark (3-1) and Serbia (6-1).
  • Germany have lost only three of their last 17 U21 EURO group stage matches (W8 D6).
  • Only two of Germany’s previous 28 U21 EURO group stage matches finished without a goal being scored.

Czechia vs Germany prediction

This may well turn out to be a long evening for Czechia when taking into account just how impressive Germany looked in all departments against Slovenia in their opening Group B encounter. Nick Woltemade left his calling card in that game, the 23-year-old Stuttgart striker scoring a hat-trick in his side’s 3-0 triumph and he’ll no doubt be looking to pick up where he left off.

Czechia were overwhelmed offensively by England in their first match of the group stage and it’s likely that their backline struggles once again here against another high-quality opponent. Over the course of 90 minutes, Germany will be expected to comfortably emerge victorious and are well worth backing to do so by at least two clear goals.
