Crystal Palace vs Stockport Prediction

It was a difficult start to the season for Oliver Glasner and Crystal Palace, who didn’t win any of their first eight Premier League games of the campaign, but they have really found their feet now having lost just one of their last nine league encounters.

The Eagles have exited the FA Cup at this stage of the competition in four of the past five seasons, the exception being their run to the semi-finals in 2021-22.

Stockport County, who were playing in the National League North as recently as 2019, now find themselves on the brink of the League One play-off spots, although they have struggled for results recently with Dave Challinor’s side winless in their last four games.

The Hatters have reached the third round for the third time in the last five seasons, but they haven’t gone beyond that since the 2000/01 campaign.

Crystal Palace have considerable depth in their squad should Glasner wish to rotate his pack, but they should guard against that given that Stockport are one of the most improved teams in English football over the past few seasons. If this was played at Edgeley Park then an upset wouldn’t be against the realms of possibility, but Palace should have too much on home turf.
