Crystal Palace moved into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup last week and that could become the priority as the Eagles now face relegation battling Ipswich Town at Selhurst Park this weekend.

Crystal Palace Preview: Eagles are flying

Oliver Glasner enjoyed a very positive first few months as Crystal Palace boss before going winless in their opening eight games of this season. However, the Eagles have certainly turned things around with European qualification not yet out of sight.

With three victories in their last four Premier League matches, Palace also come into this one on the back of a comfortable 3-1 defeat of Championship side Millwall in a south London derby at Selhurst Park in the fifth round of the FA Cup last weekend.

Ipswich Preview: Appearing doomed

Ipswich Town begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting firmly in the bottom three and the relegation places, five points adrift of safety. The Tractor Boys have endured a difficult start to 2025 and that continued in the cup last week.

Despite an improved performance against Nottingham Forest, they were eventually beaten by Forest on penalties and Ipswich have collected just two points from eight matches in the league since beating Chelsea at Portman Road at the back end of 2024.

Crystal Palace Team News: Hughes suspension & Mateta injured

Jean-Philippe Mateta will be unavailable for this weekend due to his ear injury suffered against Millwall last weekend but he avoided concussion so could return soon. English midfielder Will Hughes will also be sidelined for Palace due to suspension, having collected his tenth yellow card of the season.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Henderson; Richards, Lacroix, Guehi; Munoz, Lerma, Wharton, Mitchell; Sarr, Eze; Nketiah

Unavailable: Riad (Injured), Ward (Injured), Doucoure (Injured), Hughes (Suspended), Mateta (Injured)

Ipswich Team News: A few issues

Kieran McKenna is dealing with a few injuries as attacking issues Omari Hutchinson and Julio Enciso not being too far away with Cameron Burgess also needing to be assessed, whilst Axel Tuanzebe is sidelined. They are also without the likes of Wes Burns, Conor Chaplin and Sammie Szmodics.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Palmer; O'Shea, Woolfenden, Greaves, Davis; Morsy, Cajuste; Philogene, Taylor, Clarke; Delap

Unavailable: Muric (Injured), Tuanzebe (Injured), Burns (Injured), Ogbene (Injured), Chaplin (Injured), Hutchinson (Fitness), Enciso (Fitness), Szmodics (Injured)

Questionable: Burgess (Injured)

Crystal Palace vs Ipswich Prediction

Crystal Palace have been very impressive in the last few months and after those aforementioned opening eight games this season, they have actually been one of the better sides in the Premier League. They face an Ipswich Town side that, for the first time, are beginning to chop and change a bit more as they become more desperate in their search for results. With home advantage, though, this appears likely to be a fairly comfortable home win.
