Cruz Azul reached this stage of the competition by edging past compatriots Tigres UANL by two goals to one on aggregate in the semi-finals of the CONCACAF Champions Cup. That backed up a 2-1 aggregate victory over another Liga MX side, Club America, in the quarter-finals. America did recently defeat Cruz Azul in the semi-finals of the Liga MX Clausura in mid-May.

The Vancouver Whitecaps, on the other hand, produced a shock to defeat Inter Miami by five goals to one on aggregate in the semi-finals, with a comprehensive 3-1 victory in the second-leg in Florida. The Canadians are now unbeaten in their last 15 matches across all competitions as they sit at the top-of-the-table in the Western Conference.

Cruz Azul have got to this stage with a tight and resilient defence, whilst Vancouver have the balance to be able to do both sides of the game to a strong level and a value bet would be siding with the MLS outfit in Mexico this weekend.
