THE TEAM NEWS

INDIA

• India fell to a resounding ten-wicket loss against Pakistan, the worst possible start to their Super 12 campaign as their total of 151/7 was chased down emphatically.
• All-rounder Hardik Pandya is an injury doubt heading into this one, whilst batter Ishan Kishan was left out against Pakistan despite scoring 70 not out against England leading into the tournament and could be brought into the side here.

NEW ZEALAND

• After being put into bat by Pakistan in Sharjah this past Tuesday, New Zealand could only manage 134/8 from their 20 overs, which ultimately proved a losing total, leaving them yet to win so far in this T20 World Cup, as is the case with India.
• Fast bowler Lockie Ferguson did not feature against Pakistan, with a calf tear ruling him out of the tournament and the Black Caps have replaced him in the squad with Adam Milne, who could well be thrown straight into the action should New Zealand opt for the extra pace option alongside Trent Boult and Tim Southee.

THE PREDICTION

This is an absolutely crucial match for both sides in terms of qualification to the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup with India and New Zealand having each lost their opening Super 12s match. From a New Zealand perspective, their batting depth has to be a worry with the Black Caps having struggled against Pakistan. The bowling has been hit hard with the loss of Ferguson and so much rests on the shoulders of players such as skipper Williamson with the bat and left-arm pacer Boult with the ball. India do appear to contain more quality within their batting down the order than New Zealand do and their bowling unit will have a serious point of prove after going wicketless against Pakistan. Whilst their record against the Kiwis in ICC tournaments is poor, India should wind up too strong for New Zealand in Dubai and finally get their Super 12s campaign up and running with a vital win.
