Costa Rica team news: Strike partnership retained

The forward partnership of Alonso Martinez and Manfred Ugalde combined for three of Costa Rica’s four goals against Suriname and they’ll no doubt be very important again here. Three at the back may well be on the cards with Carlos and Joseph Mora operating as wing-backs.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Navas; Mitchell, Faerron, Calvo; C. Mora, Bran, Galo, Aguilera, J. Mora; Martinez, Ugalde

Questionable:

Dominican Republic team news: Likely unchanged

Dominican Republic may have come out on the losing side against Mexico but they significantly impressed, particularly going forward and with that in mind, it would be no surprise if we saw the same starting line-up for this one.

Predicted XI (5-4-1): Valdez; Urbaez, Kaparos, Rosario, Pujol, Dollenmayer; Gonzalez, Morschel, Lopez, Reyes; Romero

Questionable:

Costa Rica vs Dominican Republic prediction

If this game is anything like the two that we’ve already seen involving one of these two teams, then we should be in for a belter. Costa Rica were 4-3 winners vs Suriname, whilst the Dominican Republic went down fighting against a strong Mexico side, losing by three goals to two. Attack clearly looks to be the stronger suit on both sides and that may be reflected in the final scoreline.

Costa Rica’s experience was something we touched upon when previewing their opening group match and it the importance of what those veteran players bring to the table cannot be underestimated. But whilst backing them to win again has to be favoured, expect a high-scoring encounter.

Costa Rica vs Dominican Republic tip: Costa Rica to win and over 2.5 goals
