Comoros preview: Average Comoros

Comoros have been an improving international side for much of the last half a decade or so with a round of 16 appearance the standout at the 2021 CAF Africa Cup of Nations in early 2022.

They have collected one point from their opening two group stage matches thus far with a 2-0 defeat to hosts and pre-tournament favourites Morocco before a goalless draw with Zambia the other day.

Mali preview: Underperformers Mali

Under the management of former Gambia boss Tom Saintfiet, the Malians will be seeking to avoid being underperformers once again and they are pushing for a place in the knockouts of this tournament.

After a 1-1 draw with Zambia in their opening game, Mali then rescued a more than respectable point in a 1-1 draw against the Moroccans, courtesy of a 64th minute penalty scored by Lassine Sinayoko.

Comoros team news: Fully fit

Comoros have a fully fit and available squad for this clash with Mali and so it could well be that they name an unchanged eleven for their final group stage game.

Predicted XI (4-4-2): Pandor; Abdallah, Toibibou, Soilihi, Boura; Bakari, Bourhane, Youssouf, Maolida; M’Changama, Said

Questionable:

Mali team news: Bissouma fitness issues

Yves Bissouma has been eased back to full fitness for Mali and had to be replaced after 57 minutes against Morocco and so there will be slight doubts over his fitness levels.

Predicted XI (4-4-1-1): Diarra; W. Coulibaly, Diaby, Camara, Gassama; Sangare, L. Coulibaly, Dieng, Doumbia; Bissouma; Sinayoko

Questionable: Bissouma (Fitness)

Comoros vs Mali prediction

Comoros managed to achieve that aforementioned success of getting to the knockout stages of a recent AFCON with a bit of luck and an extreme defensive mentality. Their lack of quality in the final third has been on show again throughout this tournament and the expectation is that Mali, once again, manage to ease themselves to a low-scoring win as they seek knockout football.

Comoros vs Mali tip: Mali to win & under 3.5 goals
