Colombia successfully topped their group at this stage back in 2023 after picking up seven points from three games. But they face stiff opposition in their opening match of this year’s competition. Following substantial investment into their football program and international pathway, big things are expected of Saudi Arabia moving forward and they would no doubt love to make a statement here.
It would be no surprise if Colombia found their opponents difficult to break down as Saudi Arabia keep bodies behind the ball when out of possession. At the same time, Colombia will know to guard against both the counter-attack and set pieces. Neither will want to get off to a losing start and it may be the case that the pair cannot be separated.
