Club Brugge preview: Energetic and entertaining

Club Brugge have managed to share a thrilling 3-3 draw with one of the tournament favourites Barcelona this season, as well as hammering Olympique de Marseille to progress into the top 24 of the league of the UEFA Champions League.

The home team come into this one on the back of a dramatic 2-1 defeat of Cercle Brugge in the derby at the weekend, backing up a defeat of arch-rivals Standard Liege by three goals to nil a week prior.

Atletico Madrid preview: Up for the cups

Atletico Madrid come into this one on the back of their second successive defeat in La Liga, having been hammered 3-0 by Rayo Vallecano at Butarque in Leganes, a week after they had succumbed to a 1-0 loss at home to Real Betis.

However, outside of their league form, Los Rojiblancos annihilated Betis by five goals to nil in the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey before then blowing Barcelona away by four goals to nil in the first-leg of their semi-final in the cup.

Club Brugge team news: No need to change

There are no fresh issues for Club Brugge to deal with and so they will be able to name an unchanged eleven from their last game in Europe against Marseille at the Jan Breydel Stadion.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Mignolet; Sabbe, Ordonez, Mechele, Seys; Stankovic, Onyedika, Vanaken; Forbs, Vermant, Diakhon

Unavailable: Audoor (Injured), Van Den Heuvel (Injured)

Atletico Madrid team news: Changes needed

Diego Simeone will have to think very carefully about his lineup this weekend and ‘El Cholo’ has been prone to a lot of changes and so a lot of changes are again to be expected here.

Predicted XI (4-4-2): Oblak; Llorente, Pubill, Hancko, Ruggeri; Simeone, Barrios, Koke, Baena; Griezmann, Lookman

Unavailable: Pablo Barrios (Injured)

Questionable:

Club Brugge vs Atletico Madrid prediction

Club Brugge play a very entertaining and aggressive, energetic style of football and they will fancy themselves to get on the front foot and very much take the game to Atletico. That is something that, as Diego Simeone has actually explained in recent weeks, may well suit the Spaniards and, with the league done and dusted, focusing on the cups is the way to go for Atleti and they have to be seen as favourites for a potentially fun contest in Belgium.

Club Brugge vs Atletico Madrid Tip: Atletico Madrid to win & both teams to score
