Key stats

  • China PR are unbeaten in the previous eight international matches between these teams (W4 D4).
  • China PR have won only two of their last 11 World Cup qualifying matches (D1 L8). They have lost the four most recent, since a 1-0 away win against Bahrain on 14 November 2024.
  • China PR have kept only one clean sheet in their last 26 World Cup qualifying matches.
  • Bahrain are without a win in their last eight World Cup qualifying matches (D3 L5). Since a 1-0 victory away from home against Australia in September 2024.

China PR vs Bahrain prediction

China PR’s miserable qualifying campaign continued on Thursday as they lost 1-0 in Indonesia which saw them officially eliminated from any chance of reaching the World Cup next year.

That was their seventh loss in nine matches and they now play their final match against Bahrain who they actually managed to beat back in November with a late winner.

While they may be level on six points in the group, Bahrain have actually been the more competitive side as they have won one and drawn three matches. Their only win came in their first match as they beat Australia on the Gold Coast but they have failed to win any since then.

They have lost their last three matches without scoring a goal and their qualifying campaign is seriously petering out now.

Motivation on both sides is waning badly and with a combined total of 11 goals scored by the two teams (Bahrain have five with China six), it is hard to see where the goals will come from here. Expect a low-scoring encounter.

China PR vs Bahrain tip: Under 2.5 total goals
