Chesterfield vs Barrow prediction

Coached by the ever impressive former Wigan Athletic and Portsmouth boss Paul Cook, Chesterfield will be expected to improve upon their seventh placed finish last season. They were beaten by Walsall in the playoff semi-finals in their first season back in the EFL, having won the National League by a distance in the 2023/24 campaign.

They now face a Barrow side that have embarked upon another reasonably busy summer transfer window. There is perhaps a misconception that the Cumbrians are plucky upstarts with quite a low budget, but that isn’t really the case, albeit a top seven push does still remain fairly ambitious for Barrow.

Barrow will likely be a half-decent mid-table side this season, but there is a good chance they could get blown away by a strong Chesterfield on the opening day.

Chesterfield vs Barrow tip: Chesterfield to win -1 handicap
