Chad are one of the weakest sides in Africa as they now take on a Mali side still with a thin chance of finishing second and getting a knockout playoff berth this week.

Key Stats

  • Chad have lost nine and drawn two of their 11 World Cup qualifying matches since their last FWCQ victory which was a 1-0 home win against Egypt in November 2015.
  • Despite losing against Ghana (0-1 away) in their most recent fixture, Mali have lost only three of their last 19 World Cup qualifying matches (W8 D8).
  • Mali have kept 14 clean sheets in their last 19 World Cup qualifying matches.

Chad vs Mali Prediction

In their opening eight matches of CAF qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Group I, Chad have managed to collect just one point with seven defeats in which they have conceded 19 goals. Mali, on the other hand, have themselves underwhelmed as they sit four points behind second place Madagascar in the push for a potential playoff spot to try and get into the intercontinental playoffs.

Chad most recently suffered a 3-1 hammering at the hands of Madagascar last month, whilst the Malians come into this one on the back of a slender 1-0 defeat to Ghana, who look to have now secured their spot at the tournament next summer.

Despite the fact that Mali have been underwhelming in the last 18 months, they will be expected to come out on top at Stade Olympique Marechal Idriss Deby Itno this week.
