Just over a week ago, Central Coast Mariners saw their head coach Mark Jackson depart for Buriram FC, hardly ideal preparation ahead of the new A-League season. Warren Moon has assumed caretaker duties and will lead the team against Newcastle Jets, whose boss Mark Milligan will be hoping to get off to a winning start and must no doubt sense a big opportunity here.
The Jets will likely try to force the issue and take the game to Central Coast Mariners despite being the away team. But despite their head coach leaving, the hosts still have some good players and a blueprint to try and win. They won’t back down on their turf and will be ready to fight attacking fire with attacking fire. With that mind, backing both teams to score is worth considering.
