CELTA VIGO PREVIEW: SILKY CELTA

Ever since the appointment of former B team coach Claudio Giraldez, who replaced former Liverpool and Real Madrid manager Rafa Benitez with Celta involved in a relegation battle last season, the Galicians have been much-improved and one of the most entertaining teams to watch in La Liga.

Their 11 matches so far this season have consisted of 37 goals with 17 scored and 20 conceded. Only the top three have scored more than them so far this season, whilst only one side has conceded more. Their most recent outing saw them hammer lower league San Pedro by five goals to one in the first round of the Copa del Rey.

GETAFE PREVIEW: GRANITE GETAFE

Getafe, on the other hand, have been very underwhelming to watch with the classic aggressive and defensive style of Jose Bordalas once again being the emphasis at the Coliseum. The Madrid-based club do begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting just outside of the bottom three and the relegation places but it isn’t pretty to watch.

The visitors come into this one on the back of three successive 1-1 draws against Osasuna, Villarreal and then Valencia. Those draws followed a 2-0 defeat of Deportivo Alaves to mean they have actually suffered just one defeat, a narrow 1-0 loss against league leaders Barcelona, in their last five matches.

CELTA VIGO TEAM NEWS: DEFENSIVE ISSUES

There are a couple of key defensive injury issues for Celta as they welcome Getafe as both Jailson and Joseph Aidoo remain sidelined for the hosts.

They have been excellent in their three-at-the-back with wing-backs allowing for a lot of fluency in the middle and attacking thirds of the pitch for Celta.

PREDICTED XI (3-4-3): Vicente Guaita; Javi Manquillo, Starfelt, Marcos Alonso; Oscar Mingueza, Hugo Sotelo, Ilaix Moriba, Hugo Alvarez; Iago Aspas, Borja Iglesias, Bamba

UNAVAILABLE: Jailson (Injured), Aidoo (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE:

GETAFE TEAM NEWS: BORJA MAYORAL INJURED

There is just one injury concern for Getafe this weekend as they travel to Balaidos with former Real Madrid striker Borja Mayoral an injury doubt but he is nearing full fitness.

Getafe lack goals and lack attacking numbers plain and simple really. They have had to adapt with defensive midfielder Christantus Uche playing up-front instead.

PREDICTED XI (4-4-2): David Soria; Jorge Iglesias, Djene, Omar Alderete, Diego Rico; Carles Perez, Mauro Arambarri, Luis Milla, Alex Sola; Alvaro, Yildirim

UNAVAILABLE:

QUESTIONABLE: Borja Mayoral (Injured)

CELTA VIGO VS GETAFE PREDICTION

This is a real clash of styles between two sides with very different ambitions for the rest of the campaign. The entertaining Celta will be seeking to push into the top seven and the European spots. Getafe are languishing but still difficult to play against. They will have the odd game where they do look a potent threat and this is one of those where that could be the case so both teams scoring seems a good bet for this one.
