Slovenian side Celje came through the knockout playoff round of the UEFA Europa Conference League in surprising style as they now prepare to take on Swiss Super League outfit Lugano.

Celje vs Lugano Prediction

Celje were one of two Slovenian sides in the knockout playoff round but, unlike Olimpija Ljubljana, they managed to come through their tie and they now face a Lugano side that may well fancy themselves to go deep into the UEFA Europa Conference League this season.

The home team come into this one on the back of a 2-0 defeat to the aforementioned Olimpija in the Slovenian capital city at the weekend. Celje had been unbeaten in their previous five matches across all competitions before that defeat with that run of form involving a 4-2 aggregate victory over APOEL Nicosia in the knockout playoffs.

Lugano finished sixth in the league phase of the UEFA Europa Conference League with four victories and a draw in their six matches. The Swiss side do come into this one, though, on the back of some poor form as they were beaten 3-0 by Zurich at the weekend just a few days after a 2-0 loss to Biel-Bienne in the quarter-finals of the Swiss Cup last week.

Given the fact that Lugano have entered into some poor form ahead of this as well as Celje’s home advantage, there could well be good value to side with the Slovenians in this one.

Celje vs Lugano Tip: Double chance – Celje to win or draw
