Castleford Tigers vs Wigan Warriors prediction
Wigan Warriors were handed all the motivation they need to go out and win away at Castleford Tigers when Hull KR, the team who beat them at Old Trafford in last year’s Super League Grand Final, were victims of a shock defeat at York Knights, opening the new campaign in dramatic style. Matty Peet will ensure no complacency leaks into the Wigan dressing room with Castleford a notoriously tough place to visit for any Super League team.
The Tigers ended last season in 11th-place, winning just six of their 27 league fixtures with a negative points difference of 419. It would be no surprise if they wound up struggling again in 2026 and have been dealt an exceedingly difficult start, with the likes of Bevan French and Jai Field capable of special plays on offense for the visitors.
Field in particular deserves special focus. Only Lewis Miller racked up more Super League tries than the 28-year-old’s tally of 24 last season. That’s an average of just under a try per match and his searing pace will no doubt see Field prove a massive challenge to contain for the Tigers backline. In the end, expect Field to get over at least once in what should be a comfortable Wigan win.
