This is a really intriguing contest and is more or less a playoff for qualification in Group D as Cape Verde welcome Cameroon to Estadio Nacional de Cabo Verde this week.

Key Stats

  • Cabo Verde are aiming to win five successive World Cup qualifying matches for the first time.
  • Cabo Verde have lost only one of their last 11 World Cup qualifying matches (W8 D2).
  • Cameroon have lost only three of their last 29 World Cup qualifying matches (W16 D10).
  • Cameroon are unbeaten in their last eight World Cup qualifying matches (W5 D3).

Cape Verde vs Cameroon Prediction

After seven matches of CAF qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Cape Verde have managed five victories with a draw and a defeat as they sit a point ahead of an unbeaten Cameroonian side with four wins and three draws. Behind them, Libya could still get the runner up spot on 11, whilst Angola, Mauritius and Eswatini are some way off.

Cape Verde come into this one on the back of continuing their impressive campaign with a comfortable 2-0 defeat of Mauritius the other day, whilst Cameroon managed to hammer Eswatini by three goals to nil.

Marc Brys has made Cameroon tough to beat but they have to be more ambitious than that here because a draw won’t be enough to qualify, and a more open game in which both teams scoring would therefore seem to be a good bet for this one.

Cape Verde vs Cameroon Tip: Both teams to score
