Cagliari preview: Sardinian struggles
Under the management of Serie A’s so-called miracle worker Davide Nicola, Cagliari come into this one on the back of a 3-1 defeat to in-form Como at Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia as they sit five points clear of the bottom three and the relegation places with two games to go.
The home team have managed just two victories in their last 12 matches as they appear set to collapse towards the relegation battle. They could well be truly dragged into a potentially thrilling final day of the campaign down at the bottom end of the table.
Venezia preview: Finally going up
Last season, former Roma boss Eusebio Di Francesco took Frosinone down but he did decide to shift to a more defensive approach in the final few weeks of the campaign but it was too little too late – that may not be the case for the Venetians this season.
Just like Frosinone, Venezia became a lot more solid and defensive a couple of months ago and their improvement in performance level has seen them climb towards safety and they defeated Fiorentina by two goals to one last weekend to climb out of the danger zone.
Cagliari team news: Pavoletti suspended
Key attacker Leonardo Pavoletti is missing through suspension for the Sardinians this weekend. They also have several key doubts, too, such as defensive duo Sebastiano Luperto and Yerry Mina as well as Romania international winger Florinel Coman.
Predicted XI (4-4-1-1): Caprile; Zappa, Palomino, Obert, Augello; Zortea, Adopo, Makoumbou, Zito Luvumbo; Viola; Piccoli
Unavailable: Pavoletti (Suspended)
Questionable: Luperto (Injured), Yerry Mina (Injured), Coman (Injured)
Venezia team news: Several injuries
Venezia are dealing with several injuries for this one with Cheick Conde now sidelined due to a leg injury, whilst Alfred Duncan is now a doubt due to a calf issue alongside Richie Sagrado. Both Michael Svoboda and Domen Crnigoj are confirmed absentees, too.
Predicted XI (3-5-2): Radu; Schingtienne, Idzes, Cande; Zerbin, Kike Perez, Caviglia, Busio, Ellertsson; Oristanio, Yeboah
Unavailable: Svoboda (Injured), Crnigoj (Injured), Conde (Injured)
Questionable: Sagrado (Injured), Duncan (Injured)
Cagliari vs Venezia prediction
Cagliari are in woeful form at the moment and they are getting dragged towards the bottom three, albeit it remains extremely unlikely that they will be dragged into the danger zone. Only six teams have scored fewer goals than Cagliari this season and one of those sides is Venezia. The Venetians have been difficult to play and score against for a couple of months now and, regardless of the end match result, a low-scoring affair appears very likely for this one at the Sardegna Arena.
Cagliari vs Venezia tip: Under 2.5 goals
